Mexican courts hand down major sentences in separate criminal cases

A judge in Quintana Roo sentenced three individuals to 25 years in prison for a qualified homicide that occurred near the Benito Juárez International Airport in Cancún. In Ciudad Juárez, a federal terrorism trial concerning the August 2022 "Jueves Negro" attacks continues to progress slowly. The case focuses on Juan Carlos V. and Jorge Antonio C. B., accused of attempting to set fire to a personnel transport truck as part of a coordinated terror strategy. While several co‑accused have been released, Jorge Antonio remains in pre‑trial detention, facing both terrorism charges and a prior sentence for related damages.
