Mexican courts impose 113‑year and 45‑year sentences on Christian Augusto for murder convictions

A Guanajuato judge sentenced Christian Augusto Jafet Gómez Villalpando to 113 years, 4 months and 15 days in prison after finding him guilty of qualified homicide, aggravated forced disappearance and rape of 12‑year‑old Mateo Santiago. The ruling also ordered fines totaling more than 1.2 million pesos for victim‑reparation. Family members and supporters gathered outside the courtroom, celebrating what they described as a historic verdict.

In a separate case in Veracruz, a judge handed Christian Augusto “N” a 45‑year prison term for the murder of 30‑year‑old Luis Antonio Damián Hipólito, who vanished on his birthday on 1 February 2024. His body was later discovered in Xonotzintla with multiple gunshot wounds. The sentencing also suspended the defendant’s civil and political rights, underscoring the seriousness of the crime.
