Mexican courts impose lengthy prison terms for rape and homicide cases

A state court in San Luis Potosí sentenced Armando “N” to nine years in prison for aggravated rape of a minor. The crime occurred in the community of Santo Domingo, Santa María del Río, and the defendant was apprehended in Puebla through inter‑agency cooperation. In addition to incarceration, the judge ordered compensation to the victim and a monetary fine.

In the State of Mexico, a judge handed down a 47‑year and six‑month sentence to Jesús Ramón González Aranda for a qualified homicide that took place in the Coacalco district. The ruling also imposed a fine of 92,284 pesos, a moral‑damage award of 237,768 pesos, and the suspension of his civil and political rights.
