Mexican seasonal traditions and bakery products see early demand
Traditional Mexican seasonal products related to Day of the Dead are appearing in markets ahead of the November celebrations. In Campeche, supermarkets have already begun selling 'pan de muerto' in various sizes and flavors, including sesame and 'queso zarza' varieties, to capitalize on early consumer demand.
In Mexico City, artisanal 'Catrina' shaped ice creams from Ts'unu'um Paleterías have gained viral popularity on social media. These skull-shaped treats, available in flavors such as semi-dark chocolate, taro, and 'beso de ángel', are being sought out by consumers well before the traditional holiday period.
Additionally, bakers from the Laguna region, including Torreón, are participating in the Mexican Sweet Bread Festival in Mexico City. The event showcases artisanal techniques and includes nearly 50 historical bread varieties that were previously considered extinct, aiming to preserve the country's gastronomic heritage.
