Mexican cultural agencies launch specialized artistic training programs

Cultural institutions in Mexico are implementing specialized training programs to preserve traditional arts and support early childhood development.

In Colima, the Subsecretaría de Cultura hosted the workshop ‘¿Jugamos?: pedagogías del arte para los primeros años’. Led by scenic creator Nataly Proo, the program provided educators, artists, and interested individuals with training on using art, movement, and music as tools for neurodevelopment and integral growth in young children.

In Querétaro, the Secretaría de Cultura is conducting workshops to strengthen the next generation of ‘huapangueros’. Part of the ‘Memoria e Identidad’ cultural encounter, these sessions aim to preserve son huasteco and son arribeño traditions. Currently, 106 children and youths are enrolled across seven workshops in regions including Jalpan de Serra and Arroyo Seco, learning musicality, lyrics, and improvised verse from traditional masters.
