Mexican cultural festivals scheduled for September 2026

Various cultural celebrations are scheduled for September 2026 to honor Mexican traditions and gastronomy.

In Philadelphia, the Mexican Cultural Center will host the Mexican Independence Day Festival on September 13 at the Independence Blue Cross RiverRink Summerfest. The free event will feature live music from artists such as Los Aptos, Brisas de Guanajuato, and Erre, alongside traditional dances, crafts, and Mexican cuisine. A central part of the program is the “El Grito de Independencia” ceremony, led by Carlos Obrador Garrido Cuesta, the Consul of Mexico in Philadelphia, followed by a fireworks display.

In Mexico City, the community of San Miguel Topilejo in the Tlalpan borough will host the 39th National Corn Fair (Feria Nacional del Elote) from September 12 to 16. Held at the Auditorio Ejidal and Predio Comunal, the free festival focuses on corn-based gastronomy, including elote and esquites. The event serves to recognize local agricultural traditions and provides a space for producers and cooks to showcase regional products through music, dance, and food.
