Mexican customs officer seized by U.S. agents and transferred to Mexico
U.S. law‑enforcement agencies captured Carlos Eugenio “N,” a 46‑year‑old employee of Mexico’s National Customs Agency (ANAM), at the border near the International Bridge to Matamoros, Tamaulipas. The operation, described as a high‑security binational effort, was based on intelligence sharing between U.S. and Mexican authorities.
After his arrest, the official was handed over to Mexican security forces and placed under a strict military escort to the Federal Social Readaptation Center No. 1, known as “El Altiplano,” in the State of Mexico. The detention is linked to an ongoing investigation of alleged ties to organized crime groups that operate across the U.S.–Mexico border.
