Mexican rider Isaac del Toro lands Tour de France podium

Mexican cyclist Isaac del Toro, riding for UAE Team Emirates, secured a historic third‑place finish on Stage 6 of the 2026 Tour de France, ending a 36‑year drought without a Mexican podium in the race.

Earlier stages showed a mix of results: he completed Stage 4 in 34th place, finished 32nd on Stage 5 while maintaining eighth overall, and remained among the top contenders as the event entered the high mountain stages. After Stage 5 he was eighth in the general classification, just 3 minutes 27 seconds behind race leader Tadej Pogacar, and his podium on Stage 6 kept him within striking distance of the leaders.

Del Toro’s performance has highlighted Mexico’s emerging presence in elite road cycling and positions him as a key figure to watch in the remaining stages of the Tour.
