Mexican Day of the Dead traditions celebrated in Poland

Mexican cultural traditions, specifically the Day of the Dead (Día de Muertos), have been showcased through various events in Poland.

In Warsaw, the Mexican Embassy and the Mexican Cultural Institute have announced the city’s first Día de Muertos parade, scheduled for November 7, 2026. The parade will feature Catrina and Catrín participants, traveling from the University of Warsaw Museum to Sigismund's Column at Castle Square. The program includes live Mariachi music, Mexican cuisine, and a costume contest, alongside a traditional altar prepared by the Mexican community and university students.

In Szczecin, the University of Szczecin recently hosted celebrations at its Interfaculty Library. Organized by the university’s Spanish Education and Library Resources Center and the Institute of Literature and New Media, in collaboration with the Spanish Embassy, the event included lectures, face painting, and handicraft workshops. A traditional Mexican altar, or ofrenda, featuring candles, photos, and marigolds, served as the centerpiece of the festivities.
