Mexican educational institutions launch youth prevention initiatives
In Yucatán, students at Secundaria Técnica 21 “Agustín Franco Villanueva” in Motul have established the “Comando Colmena.” This student committee was formed following the Kaab Model program led by the State Center for Social Crime Prevention and Citizen Participation (Cepredey). The initiative aims to mitigate digital risks such as cyberbullying, sexting, and personal data exposure. As part of the program, 570 adolescents produced 37 preventive videos and developed a six-step practical guide for responding to risk situations.
In Chiapas, the Colegio de Estudios Científicos y Tecnológicos (Cecytech) has partnered with the State Attorney General's Office (FGE) to launch the “Jornadas de Prevención del Consumo de Sustancias Psicoactivas.” This strategy, titled “Prevenir para el Buen Vivir,” will provide guidance and self-care training to students across 15 municipalities. The program includes workshops for parents and guardians to strengthen family support and focuses on identifying risk factors related to psychoactive substance consumption.
