Mexican Farmers' Groups Convene Regional Congresses on Water Shortage and Credit Access

The Confederación Nacional Campesina (CNC) in the state of Colima announced an extraordinary state congress scheduled for Saturday, 15 August 2026, to examine the agricultural sector’s challenges. Organizers highlighted severe water scarcity caused by irregular rainfall and discussed financing options for producers, with presentations from the National Water Commission (Conagua) and the Rural Development Fund (FIRA).

In Coahuila, the 13th edition of the Nogalero Congress was held in Allende, focusing on walnut production. State Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas was represented by Jesús María Montemayor Garza, who praised the Association Nueces del Bravo for organizing the event and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to support innovation, competitiveness, and credit access for local farmers.
