Mexican film ‘Cocodrilos’ premieres at Cineteca de las Artes

The film ‘Cocodrilos’, directed by J. Xavier Velasco, has premiered at the Cineteca de las Artes. The Ariel Award-nominated debut is based on the real-life case of Proceso reporter Regina Martínez, who was murdered in Veracruz over a decade ago following her investigative work.

The narrative follows a journalism professor murdered in Veracruz after interviewing a witness to organized crime activities. The story centers on her student, a photographer who attempts to continue the investigation despite the personal risks involved. The film is described as a work of Mexican noir that critiques the links between organized crime and authorities.
