Mexican film ‘El Desaire’ explores gender violence in national release
The Mexican film ‘El Desaire’, directed by Gabriel Ramos, has arrived in national cinemas. The production explores themes of gender violence and control within a contemporary relationship, drawing inspiration from the traditional ‘corrido norteño’ of Rosita Alvírez.
The story follows Rosa, played by Vico Escorcia, as she navigates life after her father's death while managing a family flower shop. The narrative depicts how a seemingly normal relationship with her partner, Juan, gradually reveals a pattern of jealousy, micromachismo, and systemic control.
Following successful pre-screenings in Mexico City and Monterrey, the film has received praise from media figures such as journalist Fernanda Familiar, who noted the film's high production quality and its necessity in addressing current social realities in Mexico.
