Mexican film Muhe wins Cinehill Festival’s main Propeller award in Fužine
The Cinehill Film Festival in Fužine, Croatia, ran from 21 to 26 July 2026, showcasing more than 100 titles, of which 18 competed in the main programme. The jury awarded the Propeller – the festival’s top prize – to the Mexican drama Muhe by director Fernando Eimbcke, praising its “exceptional film sensibility that blends simplicity, boldness and deep humanity” and its universal reflection on loneliness, connection and compassion.
Milivoje Obradović’s feature 15 i po received a special recognition for its “humorous and intimate portrayal of an actor facing professional, existential and personal crises”. The CroCorto prize for the best Croatian short went to Ane Predan’s film Držim te, noted for its minimalist yet precise direction that creates a cinematic haiku. The Corto award honored Swiss director Camille Surdez for L’avant‑poste 21, described as a bold, clear and sensitive treatment of abortion. The FIPRESCI critics’ award was given to Manuele Martelli’s Chilean drama Otapanje, highlighted for its subtle but powerful language depicting a mother‑daughter relationship amid social corruption.
The festival attracted a larger audience than the previous edition, despite cold mountain weather, and featured a jury panel that included producers from Palestine, Serbia and Croatia.
