Mexican football clubs Pumas and Chivas face scrutiny over leaked jersey designs

Leaked images of upcoming third kits for Mexican football clubs Pumas and Chivas have surfaced, sparking discussion among fans.

A potential new jersey for Club Universidad Nacional (Pumas) appears to draw inspiration from the 1968 Olympic flame at the Estadio Olímpico Universitario. The design reportedly features a blue base with grey figures referencing the Olympic cauldron, a V-neck collar in blue and gold, and a silhouette of the club crest. The design includes a tribute to Enriqueta Basilio, the first woman to light the Olympic flame, positioned above the player numbers on the back.

In contrast, a leaked Nike third kit for Chivas for the 2026-2027 season has received negative reactions from supporters. The design moves away from the club’s traditional red and white stripes, opting for an all-black aesthetic with gold and silver accents. The kit features patterns inspired by charrería embroidery and utilizes the club’s historical 'C' and 'G' crest.
