Mexican governors see varying approval ratings in recent polls

Recent political polling in Mexico shows varying approval levels for state leaders. According to data from México Elige for September 2026, Zacatecas Governor David Monreal Ávila holds a 20.8% approval rating, a slight decrease from 22.6% in August. In the same region, Zacatecas municipal president Miguel Ángel Varela Pinedo maintains a 44.2% approval rating, consistent with his August figures but significantly lower than his 64.4% rating from September 2025.

In Jalisco, Governor Pablo Lemus Navarro continues to rank among the highest-rated state leaders in the country. The August 2026 Mitofsky Ranking places Lemus in ninth place nationally, following a 1.6-point increase in approval. Notably, Lemus is the highest-rated governor among Pacific coast states. In Jalisco, Lemus’s approval rating is 13 points higher than that of President Claudia Sheinbaum, making Jalisco one of only two states where the governor outranks the president in popularity.
