Mexican health agencies launch free mammography campaigns

Health authorities in Mexico are conducting regional campaigns to provide free mammography services for women aged 40 to 69 to promote early breast cancer detection.

In Oaxaca, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) is offering these services at the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 64 in Tuxtepec. The sessions run Monday through Saturday, from 8:00 AM to 8:00 PM. Medical officials emphasize that annual mammographies are essential for detecting changes before symptoms appear.

In Michoacán, the Secretariat of Health (SSM) is deploying mobile units to nine municipalities from August 10 to 14. The scheduled locations include Buenavista, Sahuayo, Numarán, Panindícuaro, Venustiano Carranza, Apatzingán, Tanhuato, Coeneo, and Villamar. Participants are advised to bring official identification and avoid using perfume, talcum powder, cream, or deodorant during the procedure.
