Mexican health officials intensify dengue control as rains begin

In the state of Morelos, the Secretariat of Health, through Services of Health of Morelos (SSM), has stepped up dengue prevention as the rainy season starts, coordinating with municipal governments, conducting epidemiological surveillance, health promotion and removal of mosquito breeding sites. State vector‑borne disease coordinator Angelita Gómez Gómez reported four confirmed dengue cases in week 23 in the municipalities of Temixco, Tlaltizapán and Jiutepec, three of them with warning signs. Residents are urged to keep patios clean, cover water containers, eliminate standing water and seek care for fever, severe headache or eye pain.

In Torreón, Coahuila, the municipal public health department, led by director José Manuel Riveroll Duarte, has carried out intensive fumigation in neighborhoods, schools and childcare centers, targeting mosquitoes, ticks and spiders. Operations covered the Institute of Municipal Women, Andrés Eppen kindergarten, a primary school in Ejido Juan Eugenio and several residential areas such as La Joya, San Felipe, Villas del Bosque, Villas La Merced, María Mercado, Las Dalias and Vicente Guerrero. The vector team urges citizens to report risks through the 073 hotline and to eliminate standing water to curb dengue transmission.
