Mexican health officials urge home cleaning to curb tick and mosquito diseases
Mexico's public health authorities are calling on residents to clean homes and patios to reduce the risk of vector‑borne illnesses. In Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua, Secretary of Health Gilberto Baeza Mendoza warned that rickettsiosis cases are rising and urged citizens, especially those with children, to keep yards free of debris, report bites promptly and follow medical protocols.
Similarly, the Sonora Secretariat of Health appealed to the public to eliminate mosquito and tick breeding sites by removing abandoned objects, stored water and waste from residential areas during the hot, humid summer. Health brigades are conducting neighborhood clean‑up operations and emphasizing the importance of household hygiene to prevent disease transmission.
