Mexican influencer’s wife left blind and paraplegic after childbirth

On June 6, influencer Brandon Hernández, known as “Soy el May,” and his wife María Fernanda Rodríguez (Mafer) gave birth to their daughter María Victoria in a private hospital in Mexico City. Shortly after the delivery, Mafer suffered a cardiac arrest lasting several minutes and later experienced anaphylactic shock allegedly triggered by medication, leaving her in a coma and resulting in permanent blindness and paraplegia.

Hernández has accused the hospital of negligence, citing delayed delivery of medical records, unclear treatment explanations, and costly errors. He has launched legal action, reported hospital expenses exceeding 3.8 million Mexican pesos, and started a GoFundMe campaign to support Mafer’s intensive care and future rehabilitation.
