Mexican-inspired dining concepts expand in New York and California
New Mexican-inspired dining concepts are expanding in the United States. Casa Felix has opened in the Chelsea neighborhood of New York City. Managed by the hospitality group behind Philippe Chow, the restaurant features a menu by third-generation chef Rey Martinez that draws on Mexican heritage. The establishment focuses on agave spirits, specifically tequila and mezcal, and features dishes such as tuna chicharrón and chicken enfrijoladas.
In California, Maleza is transitioning from a hotel-based restaurant to a standalone concept. Originally located at Drift Palm Springs, the restaurant will open at The Camp in Costa Mesa in late August. Operated by TMC Hospitality Group, Maleza offers Mexico City-inspired cuisine, including housemade salsas, moles, and various tacos and raw bar items.
