Mexican investors expand presence in US and Mexican professional sports

Mexican capital and prominent figures are increasingly expanding their presence within major professional sports leagues in the United States and Mexico.

In Mexico, former MLB star Ryan Howard has joined Club Querétaro (Gallos Blancos) in Liga MX as a new investment partner. Howard cited the growing potential of the Mexican market and the North American football landscape following the World Cup as key drivers for his decision to invest.

In the United States, Mexican business interests are penetrating top-tier leagues. Gonzalo Hevia Baillères and the Aramburuzabala family have joined the ownership group of the NFL's Seattle Seahawks, marking the first time Mexican capital has been part of an NFL franchise ownership group. In Major League Soccer (MLS), Carlos Vela and Juan Domingo Beckmann Legorreta have acquired stakes in Los Angeles Football Club (LAFC). Additionally, businessman Alfredo Harp Helú maintains a significant ownership stake in the MLB's San Diego Padres.
