Yucatán Judge Hernán Vega Burgos Denies US Visa Cancellation
Yucatán State Supreme Court magistrate Hernán Jesús Vega Burgos publicly refuted claims that the United States had revoked his visa. He clarified that his tourist visa expired in 2018 and that he has not applied for renewal, emphasizing that the lack of a current visa is not a sanction. Vega Burgos also denied any illicit connections, stating he has never been detained or sanctioned by any authority.
Despite his statements, an international media outlet listed him among Mexican politicians whose U.S. visas were reportedly cancelled for alleged federal offenses. The list, cited by sources said to be from the U.S. Department of State, also includes governors of Sonora and Tamaulipas and other officials, though the Mexican presidency says it has no official information on the revocations. No U.S. agency has confirmed the action, and the magistrate asserts the reports are unfounded.
