Mexican judges impose long prison terms for recent femicide convictions
A judge in Zapopan, Jalisco sentenced a man to 32 years in prison for the 2021 femicide that occurred on a public‑transport bus, also ordering payment of fines and reparations to indirect victims.
In Veracruz, a court found Marlon Botas Fuentes guilty of the 2021 femicide of 21‑year‑old university student Montserrat Bendimes. A sentencing hearing is scheduled for 16 July, with a possible term of up to 70 years in prison.
