Mexican kickboxer Luis Enrique Ávila reaches WKU World final in Berlin
Luis Enrique Ávila of Ciudad Juárez advanced to the final of the WKU World Championship 2026 in the K1 -65 kg division, defeating local favorite Mohammed Banshi and Canadian Jordan Glebel before set to meet Belgian Youssef Mahtar in Berlin on 8 August. The tournament features over 1,800 athletes from 40 countries.
In a separate domestic competition, ten Juárez martial artists earned 26 medals at the Macro Regional Norte Kickboxing tournament in Zacatecas, organized by the WACO federation. Sensei Ricardo Sánchez highlighted the event’s role in national ranking and selection. Notable medalists include 13‑year‑old Camila Sánchez, who won two golds, two silvers and a bronze in forms, and 19‑year‑old Ángela Parra, who secured gold in creative forms, silver in open weight and bronze in point fighting.
