Mexican leaders call for respect in journalism and political discourse

Mexican political leaders have issued statements regarding democratic values and the tone of upcoming political cycles. Senate President Higinio Martínez Miranda reaffirmed the Senate's commitment to respecting journalistic work and freedom of expression. He emphasized that while disagreements with media coverage may occur, respect must prevail and no threats should be directed at journalists, politicians, or citizens.

Separately, President Claudia Sheinbaum called for the eradication of hate speech within the Mexican political landscape ahead of the 2027 elections. She urged political parties and candidates to move away from aggressive campaigns and instead focus on presenting concrete proposals and contrasting ideas to benefit the nation's development.
