Mexican leaders emphasize unity and cooperation amid external pressures

Mexican political and business leaders are emphasizing national unity and cooperation to address economic, security, and sovereignty challenges.

Ignacio Mier Velazco, president of the Political Coordination Board, stated that Mexican unity is essential to resist external pressures and protect national sovereignty. He emphasized that foreign interests must not intervene in Mexican elections or political decisions. Mier Velazco noted that while relations with the United States are strategically important, they must be based on mutual respect and independence. He highlighted the Senate's role in supporting foreign policy decisions that protect national interests.

In a separate development, José Medina Mora, president of the Business Coordinating Council (CCE), expressed a commitment to working alongside the government to foster economic growth. Speaking during the CCE's 50th anniversary, Medina Mora addressed President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, noting that despite existing differences, the private sector and government share goals such as maintaining investment grades, ensuring fiscal stability, combating corruption, and successfully reviewing the T-MEC agreement. He characterized the CCE as an institution that seeks to collaborate on an inclusive development model rather than acting as a political opposition.
