Mexican legends and traditions to be featured in Teruel and Querétaro
The city of Teruel will host ‘Noche de Ánimas’ on October 31, an itinerant theatrical spectacle celebrating Mexican Day of the Dead traditions. Organized by the Teruel City Council in collaboration with Actuel Teatro, the Santa Cecilia Music Band, and the Giants and Big-Heads Troupe, the event will traverse five historic plazas. The performance will feature Mexican legends such as La Llorona, the Charro Negro, and the Island of the Dolls, alongside the reading of ‘El sonido de las ánimas’ by local writer José Baldo.
In Querétaro, the theater company Sueños y Fantasías is presenting ‘El diario de La Llorona’. Directed by Enrique Ochoa, this version of the legend explores the backstory of the character to raise awareness regarding domestic abuse and gender-based violence. The performances are scheduled for October 30 and 31 at The Hub plaza.
