Mexican legislators denounce housing risks and community neglect

In Mexico City, Morena deputy Martha Ávila has voiced support for the residents of Palo Alto in the Cuajimalpa borough, who face potential eviction. The community, comprising approximately 240 families with over 50 years of history, is navigating a judicial liquidation process of the Unión de Palo Alto Cooperative. Residents report that eviction notices have been issued, threatening families who have lived in the area for decades but were not formally recognized as titleholders in the judicial proceedings.

In Michoacán, deputy Melba Albavera Padilla has denounced institutional abandonment and discrimination against the communities of El Caudillo and Los Guajes in La Piedad. Albavera reported a long-standing lack of basic infrastructure, specifically regarding roads and hydraulic services, despite available resources. She criticized municipal authorities for neglecting these populations, while noting that current state and federal initiatives aim to address these infrastructure needs through the Michoacán for Peace and Justice Plan.
