Mexican mayor Ana Laura González faces electoral sanction over alleged resource misuse

The Institutional Revolutionary Party (PRI) in Chihuahua filed an electoral complaint against Ana Laura González Abrego, the municipal president of Guadalupe y Calvo, and the town's communication chief Hugo Corral Valenzuela. The state electoral institute (IEE) accepted the filing and opened an ordinary sanctioning procedure, citing sufficient evidence.

The allegations include personalized political promotion, improper use of public funds, violation of impartiality principles, and the use of minors in political propaganda during municipal events. The IEE has ordered González and Corral to respond within the legal deadline, allowing them to present a defense as the case proceeds under electoral law. The PRI said it will monitor the process and expects an impartial, transparent resolution.
