Mexican mayors launch road upgrades and sister‑city initiatives

Saltillo mayor Javier Díaz González, acting as honorary president of the International Committee of Sister Cities, reaffirmed his administration's support for projects that strengthen ties with partner municipalities in Mexico and abroad. He highlighted upcoming celebrations for Saltillo’s 450th anniversary and the committee’s role in fostering educational, cultural and tourism collaborations.

In Lázaro Cárdenas, municipal president Manuel Esquivel Bejarano inaugurated the concrete‑paving of Avenida Palmira in the Las Guacamayas neighborhood. The 371‑metre, 7‑metre‑wide work, costing more than 3 million pesos, aims to improve safety and mobility for students of the nearby Technical Secondary School 91.

Ecatepec’s mayor Azucena Cisneros Coss opened the fully rehabilitated Boulevard Quetzalcóatl in Ciudad Azteca. The 421‑metre stretch now features repavement, upgraded water and sewage networks, new sidewalks, curb‑side landscaping, and improved street lighting. The project, funded by municipal resources and the FIAS program, directly benefits roughly 2,500 residents and supports flood‑risk mitigation.
