Mexican mayors signal interest in 2027 reelection bids

Two Mexican municipal leaders have signaled their intentions regarding the 2027 electoral process.

Paz del Alma Ochoa Amador, the mayor of Loreto in Baja California Sur, confirmed she will seek reelection. She plans to register within the Morena party to ensure the continuity of her current government projects and social programs. Ochoa Amador noted that while she previously held critical views on the reelection of elected officials, her management results have led her to reconsider.

In Coahuila, the mayor of Castaños, Yésica Sifuentes, stated she is formally analyzing the possibility of seeking reelection in 2027. Speaking following a Municipal Political Council meeting for the PRI, Sifuentes indicated that while her immediate priority remains fulfilling current civic commitments, the option of staying in office is a real possibility being evaluated.
