Mexican Medical Students Secure 99 Service‑Social Placements for 2026‑27

On 27 July, the Faculty of Medicine’s Clinical Teaching, Internships and Social Service Secretariat held a public selection ceremony in the Dr. Alberto Guevara Rojas auditorium. Out of the 114 service‑social positions offered across public health institutions in Mexico City and the states of Mexico, Hidalgo, Tlaxcala, Querétaro and Morelos, 99 students chose a placement for the 2026‑27 term, while 15 postponed their participation.

The service‑social period runs from 1 August 2026 to 31 July 2027, during which the selected medical students will apply their training in primary‑care settings. Rector Leonardo Lomelí Vanegas highlighted the program’s role in demonstrating the positive impact of public education on community health, commemorating the 90‑year anniversary of Mexico’s medical service‑social tradition that began in 1936 with 248 interns deployed nationwide.
