Mexican municipal authorities clamp down on unlicensed school and irregular real estate projects

The municipal government of Corregidora, Querétaro, announced a partial closure of the private Colegio Militarizado Nuevo México Campus Querétaro after confirming the school lacks a municipal operating license. The school presented documentation of progress toward regularization, prompting the authorities to issue a fine and enforce the closure. SEP secretary Mario Delgado Carrillo reiterated that no militarized educational model is authorized by law and that the federal education ministry will investigate similar institutions.

In Cancún, the Municipal Secretariat of Ecology and Urban Development continues permanent operations to detect and shut down irregular real‑estate developments. Although no new closures have been made this year, two projects are under review, and six developments were closed during the current administration in coordination with the state prosecutor. Officials urged residents to verify project permits before paying deposits, warning that many unlicensed lots lack basic services or zoning approvals.
