Mexican municipal authorities respond to animal cruelty cases

The municipal government of San Martín Texmelucan filed a formal complaint with the state prosecutor after a video showed a horse being mistreated in the Tianguismanalco area. The municipal DIF office, led by Karla González Martínez, said it will pursue investigation and sanctions under animal‑protection laws.

In Chihuahua, the municipal government announced a Forum on Animal Cruelty and Interconnected Violence scheduled for 2 July at Universidad La Salle. Coordinators Rocío Reza Gallegos and researcher Jesús Vaca Cortés explained that the event will bring together officials, academics and the public to develop policies, improve reporting procedures and highlight the link between animal abuse and other forms of violence.
