Mexican municipal governments deliver social and economic aid to local communities
In the community of Hornos, Sonora, municipal, state and federal officials held the 40th "Feria de Paz y Jornada de Servicios" at the Emiliano Zapata primary school. Attendees received free medical care, psychological counselling, haircuts, legal advice, recreational activities and information from various government agencies. The event was attended by Mayor Javier Lamarque, DIF Director Claudia Santacruz and other local officials.
In Pátzcuaro, Michoacán, the state Secretary of Government Raúl Zepeda Villaseñor distributed seven million pesos to more than 700 merchants operating in the town's market. The funds are intended to support productive activities and commerce, benefitting an estimated 98,000 residents linked to the market’s economic and tourist activity. The market, opened a year earlier, was part of a broader 300‑million‑peso infrastructure project.
Both initiatives illustrate municipal and state efforts across Mexico to provide direct social services and financial assistance to residents and local businesses.
