Mexican municipalities address investment and water regulations
The municipal council of Texcoco has unanimously approved the 2026 Investment Program and Projects proposal for the Municipal Strengthening Fund (FEFOM). The allocated amount for the municipality is 24,992,089 pesos. The proposal includes 11 prioritized actions developed in coordination with local authorities to address community needs. The documentation must be submitted to state authorities for final approval or observation by September 30, 2026.
In Cuautitlán Izcalli, the municipal council has deferred a decision on a proposed regulation for the collection and use of rainwater in new construction projects. The proposal, aimed at promoting sustainable water use, was not approved in its current stage to allow for further technical, legal, and administrative strengthening. Officials noted the need to harmonize the regulation with state legislation and conduct financial analyses to ensure effective implementation alongside agencies such as Operagua and the State of Mexico Water Commission.
