Mexican municipalities advance child protection initiatives
Mexican authorities in Tijuana and Tamaulipas are advancing initiatives to strengthen the protection of children and adolescents.
In Tijuana, Mayor Abdiel Gutiérrez Coronado led a public consultation forum to gather input from children and youth. This participation is intended to shape the Municipal Comprehensive Protection Program for Children and Adolescents (PROMUNPINNA) for the 2026-2027 period. The program aims to guide municipal actions regarding youth rights and seeks to make Tijuana the first municipality in Baja California to implement such a specific program.
In Tamaulipas, Ivette Salazar Márquez, executive secretary of SIPINNA Tamaulipas, participated in national activities in Puebla to improve institutional coordination. These meetings focused on strengthening the capacities of municipal authorities and establishing concrete actions to address the needs of minors. The sessions included regional encounters and ordinary meetings of executive secretariats to exchange experiences and strengthen public policies across different territories.
