Mexican municipalities approve land donations for new IMSS childcare centers

The city council of Monclova, Coahuila, led by Mayor Carlos Villarreal, approved the transfer of two municipal plots in the Mezquital and Tierra y Libertad neighborhoods to the Instituto Mexicano del Seguro Social (IMSS). The land is intended for the construction of two new Centros de Educación y Cuidado Infantil (CECI), expanding early‑childhood services in the city. The initiative was coordinated with state Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and IMSS officials, and will require further approval from the state congress.

In Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mayor Beto Granados presided over a council session that unanimously approved the donation of a 2,747.66‑square‑metre parcel in the Fraccionamiento Martha Rita Prince for another CECI. This marks the third such land donation in Matamoros, with the municipality planning to build five CECI by the end of the year, aiming to strengthen childcare infrastructure for working families.
