Mexican municipalities curb informal events in Celaya and Chihuahua

In Celaya, Guanajuato, municipal officials ordered the removal of a sonidero that performed at the Jardín Principal, saying the activity is not authorized under the city's civil justice regulations. Director Eduardo Griss Kauffman noted the sonidero was charging up to 4,000 pesos per day and warned that enforcement will continue unless the group complies with the ordinance.

In Chihuahua, former state official César Jáuregui Robles delivered a conference titled “El arte de gobernar” amid complaints that municipal authorities have ignored abandoned junkyards (“yonkes”) and other illegal dump sites. Residents reported that a makeshift road checkpoint staffed by armed men lacked any official insignia, raising concerns about unregulated security operations.

Both incidents highlight local government actions to regulate informal cultural activities and address perceived lapses in municipal oversight.
