Mexican municipalities expand local services and women's education

Municipal governments in Mexico are expanding local services and educational opportunities. In Meoqui, Chihuahua, Mayor Miriam Soto Ornelas is facilitating access to the 'Universidad de las Mujeres' through a partnership with the World Literacy Organization. This program allows local women to pursue online university degrees with official SEP recognition and the possibility of municipal scholarships.

Additionally, the Meoqui administration is conducting 'Miércoles con tu Alcaldesa' (Wednesdays with your Mayor) sessions. These events provide direct citizen services without appointments, including medical consultations, legal advice, pet sterilization, and information on social security and digital signatures.

In Puebla, the municipal government, led by Pepe Chedraui, is offering free psychological support and legal counseling through the Secretaría de las Mujeres. These services aim to support women facing violence or legal issues, providing a confidential space for emotional well-being and rights guidance.
