Mexican municipalities expand support and facilities for senior citizens
Local authorities in Mexico are implementing various social assistance programs aimed at improving the quality of life for senior citizens.
In Atotonilco de Tula, Hidalgo, the rehabilitation of the Casa de Día del Adulto Mayor in Vito has been completed. The project, delivered by municipal authorities including Mayor Yocelyn Tovar Mendoza, provides a space for more than 50 seniors to engage in recreational and physical activities such as yoga, tai chi, dance, and singing.
In Torreón, Coahuila, the DIF organization has intensified support for elderly care centers as part of activities for the Month of the Older Adult. Selina Bremer de Cepeda, honorary president of DIF Torreón, delivered mobility equipment, including wheelchairs and walkers, as well as adult diapers to the Casa Hogar Lucinda Mijares Valdés. This facility provides comprehensive care to 27 vulnerable residents, most of whom are over 70 years old.
