Mexican municipalities implement community-focused public service programs

Local government initiatives in Mexico are focusing on direct community intervention to improve urban infrastructure and public services.

In Ciudad Juárez, the ‘En tu Colonia, Cuenta Conmigo’ program has expanded to the Infonavit San Lorenzo neighborhood. The initiative includes road repairs such as pothole filling and resurfacing, rehabilitation of medians, and improved pedestrian signage. Additionally, the program provides maintenance for public parks and supplies for local schools, including paint, waterproofing, and educational equipment. Since its launch, the program has addressed approximately 1,100 potholes across various neighborhoods.

In Ciudad Victoria, Mayor Eduardo Gattás Báez has implemented a territorial attention strategy to engage directly with residents. During recent visits to the Vamos Tamaulipas neighborhood, municipal officials addressed citizen demands regarding street lighting, asphalt rehabilitation, trash collection, and water and drainage services. The strategy aims to shorten response times for essential public services through direct dialogue with families.
