Mexican municipalities invest in flood prevention and water infrastructure

In Zacatlán, Puebla, the state and municipal governments have allocated 23.34 million pesos for the construction of two storm collectors. These works aim to reduce flood risks by channeling water toward the Barranca Los Jilgueros. One specific project, representing a 17.11 million peso state investment, is expected to benefit 34,779 residents. The infrastructure includes 380 meters of PVC piping and the capacity to evacuate up to 11,160 liters of water per second.

In Atitalaquia, Hidalgo, municipal authorities have launched the rehabilitation and equipping of the Atlantes Deep Well. This project, involving an investment of approximately 4.36 million pesos from state resources, includes the extraction and reinstallation of pumping equipment, cleaning, and disinfection. The work is intended to improve distribution capacity and ensure a more continuous water service for 6,924 residents in the central zone.
