Mexican municipalities launch initiatives to boost security and public spaces

Zinacantepec’s mayor, Manuel Vilchis Viveros, opened a 2026 recruitment drive to add new officers to the municipal police force, aiming to professionalise the corps and enhance public safety for the town’s residents.

In the neighboring state of Hidalgo, the Ajacuba municipal government under President Zitlaly Zúñiga carried out a series of urban‑renewal actions, including park clean‑ups, tree pruning, road repairs and the restoration of street lighting and a community sports field, to improve the appearance and safety of local neighborhoods.
