Mexican municipalities launch up to 80% discount on property‑tax penalties

The municipal government of Chihuahua, led by municipal syndic Olivia Franco, announced an 80% reduction on property‑tax (predial) penalties for payments made in July and August. The program includes digital payment options, a WhatsApp chatbot, and the possibility to defer payments up to six months without interest.

In Piedras Negras, the director of Municipal Revenues, Cristina Collazo, extended similar incentives on predial, fire‑fighter and sanitation fees through the remainder of July and the months of August and September. She emphasized that the measures aim to help taxpayers regularise overdue balances and obtain future early‑payment benefits, with municipal treasury offices open Monday‑Friday for assistance.
