Mexican Municipalities Open New Property Tax Office and Offer Debt Payment Discounts

In Ayala, Morelos, municipal president Nayeli Mares announced the opening of a dedicated property‑tax office in the eastern Casa de Gobierno, allowing residents to pay and regularise predial contributions locally and without travelling to the municipal headquarters.

Separately, the city government of Morelia, Michoacán, began offering discounts and fee waivers for a range of municipal debts, including property tax, housing‑related fees, business licences and advertising permits. The scheme, running from 1 July to 26 December 2026, provides up to 90 % off fines, a 50 % reduction on licence regularisation fees and eliminates historic predial debts incurred before 2021, provided taxpayers settle any obligations from 2021 onward.

Both initiatives aim to increase tax compliance, streamline local services and generate revenue for municipal projects.
