Mexican Municipalities Strengthen Civil Protection Ahead of Rainy Season

San Luis Acatlán municipality in Guerrero held a two‑day training on July 28‑29 in Acapulco, organized by the Coordinación Nacional de Protección Civil. The course “Evaluación de Daños y Análisis de Necesidades” equipped local officials, including mayor Adair Hernández Martínez, with methods to assess damage, identify immediate and long‑term needs, and produce reports for coordinated emergency response.

In Cabo San Lucas, Baja California Sur, municipal delegate Karina de la O Uribe led an inspection of temporary shelters located in schools such as CBTis 256 and Telesecundaria Carmen Fisher Cota. The review, involving multiple municipal departments and the national civil‑protection coordinator Marcos Eduardo Olmos Tomasini, verified physical conditions, capacity and operational readiness, and announced the establishment of a command post to coordinate emergency actions during the rainy season.
