Mexican Navy Seizes 1.3 Tonnes of Cocaine off Guerrero Coast

Mexico’s Navy (Semar) intercepted a large cocaine shipment in the Pacific Ocean near Boca Chica, Tecpan de Galeana, Guerrero. During a routine patrol, marines found 29 floating packages weighing an estimated 1,360 kg (about 1.3 tonnes) and secured the cargo, which was later air‑lifted to the port of Acapulco for further investigation.

Authorities said the haul represents an economic loss of roughly 283 million pesos for the criminal networks and could have prevented about 2.6 million individual doses from reaching the streets. The operation is part of ongoing maritime, aerial and ground surveillance coordinated with other security agencies to disrupt drug trafficking routes across the Mexican Pacific.

The seizure underscores the continued threat posed by maritime drug routes used to move narcotics toward international markets.
