Mexican Navy helicopter makes emergency landing in Jalisco

An MI-17 helicopter belonging to the Mexican Navy (Secretaría de Marina) performed an emergency landing via a controlled descent in the La Garita area of Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco, on Wednesday morning.

The incident occurred around 07:30 hours during a security operation intended to prevent illicit activities in the region. While the exact cause of the emergency maneuver remains under investigation, Jalisco Governor Pablo Lemus clarified that the aircraft was not shot down, dismissing early speculation of an attack.

Three naval personnel sustained injuries during the landing. The Secretaría de Marina confirmed there were no fatalities and stated that the injured members are receiving medical attention for non-serious wounds. Authorities are currently evaluating the circumstances that necessitated the emergency descent.
